For Winter, I get ready by buying things like scarves and gloves but Summer? Summer means changing up my beauty routines! Bring on the sunscreen, bronzer, foot scrubs etc!
Luckily for me, I’ve discovered a lot of wonderful products to help me feel more prepared for Summer! These products are cruelty free and on the more “natural side” (low rating on ThinkDirty and EWG Skin Deep!)… because last thing I need to do is smear potentially dangerous chemicals all over myself!! These products are also all cruelty free and vegan with the exception of some bee ingredients in NYR products (One of the FEW companies I will still use even if they contain bee ingredients. Check out their “Save the Bees Campaign” here) and the Not Your Mother’s Dry Texturizing Spray (this is one of (I think) three of their products that aren’t vegan- I forgot to check the ingredients! It contains keratin).
NYR Organic Pumice Foot Scrub: My poor feet always look so rough after the Winter! Thankfully this scrub really helps buff away dry skin while still locking in moisturize. I love the texture of this scrub and a little goes a long way!
Beauty by Earth Dye-Free Natural Sunless Self Tanner: I normally swear by Caribbean Naturals sunless tan lotion but it often sells out so this year I decided to try something new and ended up picking this one. I love it!! My new favorite. You only need to apply a very small amount and then rub it in a LOT. I’ve done my whole body twice now and there’s still tons of product left. The ingredients list is great, none of the junk that a lot of self tanning lotions have in them.
NYR Organic Firming Body Cream: I’ve been using this cream on the backs of my thighs and butt and I really do see a difference! My skin does look smoother. NYR always blows me away with how effective its products are!
Pacifica Tinted Bronzing Continuous Spray All Mineral + Caffeine SPF 30: I bought this on a whim at Target the other day. I was excited to see that Pacifica now carries sunscreens! This one has bronzer in it so it applies tinted (I’d definitely recommend applying it while naked or spraying it into your hands first to apply so you don’t stain your clothes). It adds a really nice tan to your skin! Probably not one I’d apply while at the beach but first thing in the morning? Yep! It really does provide instant color. It also has caffeine which is supposed to help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Not Your Mother’s Double Take Dry Texturizing Spray: I use sea salt spray in my hair all year round but wanted to give this product a try. I was tempted to get the Oribe texturizing spray but goodness, that is a pricey hair product! I heard this was a good alternative and so far I’m loving it! I’ve used a lot of Not Your MOther’s products over the years because they tend to be less toxic but still very very affordable. You only need a little bit of this product to get “texture”, as in your hair won’t be as smooth/slippery. It’s really great if you’re doing braids or updos because the hair will hold better!
Brush On Block Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Mineral Powder Sunscreen: I decided I wanted to try a powder sunscreen after Barefoot Blonde mentioned it on her Snapchat (she currently lives in Hawaii!). I ended up choosing this one because the ingredients looked good but it’s a little more affordable than some of the others. I only use it on my face and I do not RELY on it as my main sunscreen. For me, it’s a great way to add SPF while combating any oiliness or shine! I keep in my purse (okay, diaper bag) for touch ups when I’m out. If you’re wearing makeup, it’s nice that this won’t mess it up like applying a regular sunscreen might.
Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo: Not Your Mother’s makes my favorite dry shampoos! Love the texture that this one adds! I don’t use dry shampoo every week but it’s definitely harder to get a full shower in when you have a 2 year old so this comes in handy when I need a little hair refresh! I also love it for Summer because I have naturally wavy hair that I don’t brush and that looks better when it hasn’t been washed in a day or two so this helps achieve that look without it getting greasy. The fragrance in this is very strong though.
Juice Beauty SPF 30 Sport Sunscreen: Yes, I technically had bought three new sunscreens this year haha This will be my main go to though! I was so impressed by the ingredients in this! I think we all know by now that NOT all sunscreens are created equal and many actually contain carcinogens (which can cause cancer!). This one is mineral based and non nano. It also contains jojoba oil and aloe! It rubs in VERY easily which is not always the case with natural (zinc oxide) sunscreens.
Physician’s Formula Super BB #InstaReady BB Cream: I’ve been using the Say Yes to Grapefruits CC Cream for years but sometimes you just want to try to something else, you know? So I decided to try this one. It’s hypoallergenic, paraben free and fragrance free. And yes, it has sunscreen in it. haha I tend to not use regular sunscreen on my face and will instead use something tinted like this! Then I can use the powder one for touch ups. This is my new fav foundation!! It looks so natural on my skin and yet does provide nice coverage! It stays put too! For extra coverage I apply a little of the concealer.
Physician’s Formula Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Pressed Bronzer: I haven’t really been using a bronzer but thought it would be a nice addition for the warmer months. I do sometimes use a dark one for contouring but for a natural all over glow it doesn’t work as well, so I bought this one. Again, no fragrance! I don’t buy EVERYTHING fragrance free but I really do try to cut way back on it… makeup doesn’t need to contain fragrance! This one does provide a fairly natural bronze so if you are wanting more color, I’d go with the darker shade.
What are your natural Summer beauty favorites??
