Don’t let that word detox scare you! I know it may put visions of green juice and sweating in a sauna in your head but all I’m talking about here is eating foods that support your liver and help your body remove toxins more easily- nothing extreme.

All of the clean eating recipes below can be found in my Nourish program! It’s an 18 day program with 4 days of prep (clean out that kitchen, cut back on caffeine and sugar, go grocery shopping etc), 1 week of ultimate nourishment (eating only the cleanest, seasonal foods possible so you can feel UH-MAZING) and then 1 week of food relationships (adding back in foods and seeing your body responds- keeping a food journal!). It’s the ultimate way to learn what foods are working for you and which are not, lean how good health should really feel (because if you’ve never eaten this way, you just don’t know!) and break any plateaus (did you know toxins could have you holding onto an extra 5, even 10, pounds??).
Okay, here it is! Remember to drink half of your body weight in oz in water… or more!
LEMON WATER ELIXIR
1 cup room temperature water
1 lemon, juiced
1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon raw honey or stevia (to taste, optional)
Dash sea salt
ADD ALL INGREDIENTS TO A GLASS and enjoy!
VANILLA CHIA BOWL
4 tablespoons chia seeds
1 cup dairy-free milk
1 small banana mashed or 1⁄4 cup organic, all-natural applesauce
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash of nutmeg
Dash of cinnamon
1-2 drops stevia (optional)
Optional Toppings: 1 teaspoon goji berries, 1 teaspoon hemp seeds, 1 teaspoon shredded coconut
ASSEMBLE THE NIGHT BEFORE. The night before you want the Chia Bowl for breakfast, place chia seeds, dairy-free milk, banana or applesauce, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon in a container with a lid, shake well and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator.
ENERGY BLASTER SMOOTHIE
1 1⁄2 cups dairy-free milk
1 scoop protein powder
2 tablespoons chia seeds
Dash of turmeric
1 handful of spinach
ADD INGREDIENTS TO BLENDER. Blend until smooth! Make sure to add the spinach first to make sure it gets fully blended.
CREAMY ROASTED VEGETABLE SOUP
1 zucchini, chopped
1 squash, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1⁄2 yellow onion, chopped 1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt 1 cup dairy-free milk
ROAST THE VEGETABLES. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place vegetables on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil and sea salt. Roast vegetables for 20 minutes.
PREPARE THE SOUP. Place roasted vegetables into a blender and blend, slowly add in the milk to get a creamy consistency. Once you have your desired consistency, serve.
KALE SALAD WITH HEMP SEEDS
1 bunch kale
1 garlic clove, minced
1 scallion, chopped
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 lemon, juiced
3 to 5 fresh sage leaves, minced (OR 1 teaspoon dried) 1 apple, chopped, any variety
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
ASSEMBLE THE SALAD. Wash the kale. Chop or tear into bite-sized pieces and add it to a large salad bowl. Add the garlic, scallion, avocado, olive oil, sea salt, lemon juice and sage to the bowl. Massage the contents until the kale is soft and wilted. Top with chopped apples and hemp seeds.
CHOCOLATE AVOCADO PUDDING
1 cup almond milk, rice milk or hemp milk
1 zucchini, chopped
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon raw honey or 1 teaspoon stevia
MIX THE INGREDIENTS. Using a food processor or high power blender, combine all ingredients until smooth. Put in refrigerator until it is cold and then enjoy!
How good does that all sound?!? Not depriving at all, right? But it’s real food! Clean ingredients! Vegan and gluten free. It’s food that is nourishing and delicious- double win! It’s also really simple; I don’t generally do complicated, page long recipes (ain’t nobody got time for that).
