I am a sucker for an easy, natural DIY project so I’m excited to share this one with you guys today.  It’s super duper easy but packed full of benefits!

I’m a big fan of serums…and oils. They are my go to for skin care, for sure. I’ve been using various oils on my skin for years now. I was skeptical at first (I know it’s easy to think that oil would make your skin oily and gross but it’s the opposite I swear!) but they definitely won me over big time. There are so many great products out there but they can get a little pricey and sometimes I feel like I have to use quite a few different ones in order to get all of the ingredients (and benefits) that I’m wanting.  That’s what led me to making my own!

I’ve been using this face serum every evening for over a month now and have zero complaints. It smells good, feels amazing and my skin is loving it. I actually notice a difference on the odd day where I don’t use it!

So let’s talk a little bit about the ingredients I chose….

First, the carrier oils. These are the base that you add essential oils to. There are many options out there but I’ve used these two many times and know they work well for my skin!

Jojoba oil: Unlike most other vegetable oils jojoba oil very closely resembles sebum, a substance produced by our skin glands, so it is absorbed very well by our skin. If you’re not sure what oil to use, this is a great one to start with since it works for all skin types especially oily and sensitive ones!

Rosehip seed oil:  This oil is really great for evening out skin tone, treating fine lines and wrinkles and reducing the appearance of scars. I’ve noticed a big difference since adding this oil to my routine!  I find it absorbs really well so it’s one I can wear under make up which is nice.

Now the essential oils. Again, so many to choose from!  I wanted sometimes to help with fine lines and redness but that would be gentle on my sensitive skin.  Oh and I wanted it to help prevent breakouts, of course (who doesn’t?).

Neroli:  This oil helps kill bacteria (combats acne!), is rich in antioxidants and improves skin’s flexibility (tightens and tones!). It’s especially great for acne-prone skin!  It’s also not phototoxic, meaning it’s totally safe to go out in the sun after applying it.

Ylang Ylang: It’s anti-inflammatory so it helps with skin irritation or redness.  It helps control oil and minimize breakouts as well as regenerates skin cells.  It’s also great for the libido hehe

Tea tree: One of the more well-known essential oils for acne-prone skin. It’s antibacterial properties help ward off acne-causing bacteria and assist wound healing. It also helps to normalize oil production, which can help prevent or lessen break outs.  It’s my go to for spot treatment when a blemish appears!

Lavender: It helps regenerate skin cells so is great for mature skin, sun spots, and scarring. Smells lovely and is very calming! A great, gentle oil for all skin types.

Patchouli: This one is great for aging skin. It promotes new cell growth and smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also has antifungal, and antibacterial properties so it can be very helpful for people with eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and acne.

Make your own!
