The other day, I was online looking up different belly balms for pregnancy when I realized I should just make my own! I already owned everything listed below and had been meaning to use up the rest of the shea and cocoa butter for a while.

I love using a balm during pregnancy. It feels nourishing and pampering. The ingredients are very moisturizing, soothing and help with the appearance of lines and scars. Now, I’m not saying if you use this you’ll get zero stretch marks because, really, genetics are going to dictate that! However, this can help (even with old stretch marks) and is still beneficial in other ways.

If you’re not pregnant, this is still a great balm to use! Use it anywhere on your body!

Ingredients I used:
Sustainably sourced virgin coconut oil (25% off your first order)
Organic vitamin e oil
Essential oils
Cocoa butter
Shea butter
NYR Organic Mother’s Massage Oil

ps if you don’t feel like making your own balm, this is the one I used with my second pregnancy (contains sustainably harvested beeswax).

DIY Body Balm
This balm to oil is great for moisturizing skin and healing scars or stretch marks. I'm using this on my belly and hips during my third pregnancy!

  1. In a double broiler (I just fill a pot with some water, place another empty pot on top and bring it to a boil then turn down to medium!) add your cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil. Stir until melted then remove from heat.
  2. Pour your mixture into a jar and let cool for 5 min.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and stir everything together.
  4. Let cool completely. It may take a few hours for it to really solidify. You should be able to easily scoop it with your finger and have it melt as you rub it into your skin.
