For the past 3 or 4 years I’ve been choosing a word for the new year and I love it because it’s easy to remember and keeps me focused on all year. It’s also neat to see what focusing on that word brings into my life!
This year my word is COMMITMENT.
I thought about what I wanted to accomplish and focus on in 2019 and honestly it wasn’t that I wanted to make any huge changes, I just wanted to be better about following through with what I start, staying focused and prioritizing the things that are truly important to me. It’s less about the results and more about the steps I take.
It’s really about growing and evolving, just being the best authentic version of myself. I’m not about changing myself… I hate the “new year new you” BS- there is nothing wrong with ME. I don’t want a new me. I just want to make sure I’m living my best life and that the things I am doing are in alignment with who I am (because I believe all you want to be is already inside of you!).
I’m going to get a little personal and share my actual list of items I have so far; things I want to COMMIT TO in 2019.
MARRIAGE(after April since my husband is deployed)
1-2 dates out each month – hire a babysitter!
More physical touch
Weekly in home date – no kids or phones
KIDSHomeschool program – BusyToddler 45min/day Less screen time for B – 30min limit for YouTube kids, 30min limit for phone games, 1 hr max screen time total except for a movie once a week Set up Montessori-ish spaces – bedroom storage, wardrobe, kitchen table, bathroom stools etc Preschool or sport for B Host weekly (or bi-weekly) play date at home
WORKMore time connecting/engaging with people online Hire a biz coach who is awesome at IG Grow IG following organically – 5k+ goal Use Pinterest more for work with Tailwind Blog at least once a week + get better at SEO
Work more in the evenings – 1 hour focused work time when kids are asleep
SELFBBG exercise program Jan – Mar Organize garage – set up home gym area, organize kids clothes 1-2x a month go out ALONE (after April when my husband is home) Cook from scratch more – homemade bread/milks/cheeses, bars etc + juicing Less TV in evenings, more reading or work
Work on money blocks + manifesting Follow Dave Ramey’s savings/debt plan I’ll add to the list as the year goes on but that’s what I’m starting with. As you can see, most of it isn’t really concrete goals or set deadlines, just areas I want to put more time/energy/money into. I really thought about “my best self” and how I want that to show up this year. What is important to me right now? What needs more of my time? What have I been wasting time on? You get the idea.
